About
In a kingdom called Calvania, there is a prince, in love with a priestess.
Calvania was not without flaws. There were annual sacrifices. This was because the crown had made a deal with the Shadows that Spoke. The Shadows were the most ancient, dark and evil creatures to exist in the world; their true forms were shadows, though they could possess the bodies of other entities. They have control over all dark spirits and creatures. basically, these creatures (such as goblins, hags, kappas, wraiths, basilisks, red caps, trolls, ghouls etc) would pillage and torment as they pleased under the control of the Shadows that Spoke (or the 'Dark Ones') if it weren't for this agreement. Thus, they are banished to what was later called the 'eidolon forest'.
Trouble brews when the priestess who the prince is in love with is chosen by the Shadows that Spoke as their sacrifice. The prince offers himself in place, and it is there a devastating truth is revealed: the prince is not human, He is a changeling. The real prince was stolen away at birth by fairies, replaced with thus false king. The kingdom revolts and demands their true king at this very point. The council deliberate, and decide it best to trade the 'false' prince for the real one, and the Shadows agree to these terms.
The 'false' prince is then shut away inside a casket with magical properties and buried in the eidolon forest. The 'real' prince is brought forward and takes his place.
But all is not well.
Easily forgotten, the 'real' prince was fostered in the forest by the Shadows that Spoke. He may not be a demon by nature, but his actions and demeanour are very much demonic and fueled by the Shadows. The whole debacle had been an intricate scheme by the Shadows to claim the kingdom as their own.
Once the crown planned on welcoming their true son, the dark prince killed his father, the king, and sat in the throne as his father’s blood still stained the palace floors. The entire council was killed and replaced by the Shadows, as the kingdom itself plunged in a dark age where no one could be safe from the vengeful and malignant creatures that had been confined in that forest for far too long, hungry for blood.
the kingdom would bleed.
